Published: - Updated:

If you are planning on heading up to the northern tip of Vermont, then spending a few days up here Camping in Lake Carmi State Park is a great way to explore the area!  At the campground you’ll have everything you need, but at the same time be totally isolated from the crowds and masses of tourists flocking to Burlington, VT during the warm summer months.

In this article, we’ll cover all you need to know about camping in Lake Carmi State Park, including how to get reservations, where to get supplies, what kind of amenities you can expect and a bit about what to do while you are in the park.  For more details on the park in general, check out our article on Things to Do in Lake Carmi State Park.

LAKE CARMI PARK CAMPGROUND: OVERVIEW

There is only one campground at Lake Carmi State Park, but it’s quite large.  There are over 130 campsites that are suitable for RVs and tents, as well as over 30 sites with lean-tos to help protect you from the elements.  Most of the sites are level, but some are fairly small, so be sure and check the map and campsite photos to be sure the site will fit your RV.  Additionally, some of the sites at the end of each of the loops have minimal space for maneuvering for backing into the site, so it may be a bit challenging depending on the length of your rig and how skilled you are at backing up.

Reservations are accepted and recommended.  Though this is a pretty popular place in the summer, you can usually find a spot to stay a few days in advance without any issue.

LAKE CARMI STATE PARK CAMPING SUPPLIES

Other than getting wood, you really can’t find any supplies at Lake Carmi State Park.  So we do recommend that you take the time to plan out your visit so you have everything you need with you in advance of your visit.  For those, you have to head out and drive a bit.

For groceries and a small selection of restaurants, you can head into nearby Enosburg, VT.  This is about 6 miles to the southeast.  For a more extensive selection of groceries and restaurants, head over to Swanton, VT, which is about 20 minutes to the west.

If you need camping supplies or discount stores, head to St. Albans, VT, about 25 minutes to the southwest.
